MAHSC’s goal is to improve health and wellbeing across Greater Manchester as well as further afield, so social responsibility is an issue that remains at the forefront of each decision we make.
Our responsibility as an international centre of excellence is not only to the local population, but to the global population wherever the advances in healthcare made within our partnership can be translated to the greater human good.
The Global health theme is a critical one within MAHSC, linking the partnership with projects worldwide, particularly through our Humanitarian Crisis Response Institute (HRCI) and our work in East Africa.
MAHSC also prioritises the engagement and involvement of the local population in translational medicine, including in clinical trials and making improvements to healthcare delivery.
We have ambitious plans for further inclusivity, diversity and public/patient engagement to build on what we have already achieved in this area. This includes developing a structure for volunteerism within the NHS and University, with the goal of increasing volunteering by our staff by five fold over three years.
