Achieving organisational excellence

Our structure is integrated into that of our university and NHS partners, allowing for close collaboration between key figures across MAHSC.

Our strength as an academic health science centre lies in our unique organisational  structure.

We continue to place MAHSC at the heart of the Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GM AHSN), ensuring that translational medicine is delivered seamlessly to the Greater Manchester population.

MAHSC also has a strong relationship with Manchester City Council (MCC), and is chaired by MCC Chief Executive Officer Sir Howard Bernstein, as well as working closely with economic and investment agencies in the local area and beyond.

These include the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), the only combined authority outside of London, which is recognised as an exemplary model for the stimulation and development of regional economic growth. The GMCA is represented on the MAHSC Board of Governors, cementing our alignment with the region’s ten local authorities and the Local Enterprise Partnership, and supporting the delivery of economic, social and health benefits across Greater Manchester.

MAHSC has also taken steps towards greater integration of research and development functions across its seven partners through the creation of the MAHSC Research Office, which coordinates and streamlines research and development throughout the partnership.
