Improvement Science for Academics (IS4Ac) is a bespoke Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC) programme which seeks to support experienced clinical academics to close the gap between research and clinical practice.
Participants come together with their team on three occasions over 12 months to learn from global experts in improvement science. Programme participants will lead their team to deliver a locally determined improvement project which aligns to the MAHSC domain.
The programme delivery is grounded in shared learning which recognises the skills and expertise of all participants as well as the teaching faculty.
Together, we focus on maximising outputs, improving the reach and impact of research with the aim of improving the quality of the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission. Each improvement project is expected to result in high quality publication in a peer reviewed journal, and wherever possible a proposal for grant income.
Learning outcomes - On completion of the programme participants will:
- Have demonstrated successful completion of an improvement project
- Have developed advanced improvement science leadership skills
- Have written their project for publication or grant application
- Become part of the Improvement Faculty for the MAHSC network
