Manchester Academic Health Science Centre  Collaborating to improve care

MAHSC is a partnership between The University of Manchester and six leading NHS organisations, uniting leading healthcare providers with world-class academics and researchers. We share a common goal of giving patients and clinicians rapid access to the latest research discoveries, and improving the quality and effectiveness of patient care.

Our partnership, established in 2008, is at the heart of an extraordinary cluster of enterprise and discovery in the North of England. We are proud to have been designated as an Academic Health Science Centre, one of only six in the country. This recognises our partners’ excellence across research, innovation, education and patient care, and in particular the potential to excel in translational medicine.

Through extensive local, national and global collaborations, MAHSC is becoming a major biomedical/health hub, providing clinical and research leadership and helping health care organisations reap the benefits of research and innovation to drive improvements in care.
